Technical documentation

Your family can't inherit what they can't find.

Heritance is AI-native infrastructure for discovering, verifying, preserving, and recovering financial and digital assets across generations — built for institutions, employers, and consumers to embed directly into their own products.

Why Heritance?

Financial assets are rarely lost because they disappear. They become inaccessible because families lack visibility, documentation, credentials, institutional knowledge, or a coordinated recovery workflow after a major life event.

Heritance provides the infrastructure layer that continuously maintains financial context, so assets stay discoverable, verifiable, and recoverable — long before anyone needs them to be.

Asset discovery engine

Aggregates financial assets across banking, investments, insurance, pension, real estate, digital assets, government records, documents, and password vaults.

Wealth graph

Every discovered asset joins a continuously updated relationship graph — owner, nominee, beneficiary, institution, account, legal document, supporting evidence.

Continuity engine

Coordinates workflows after major life events — death, incapacity, missing credentials, dormant accounts, lost documentation.

System design

Architecture

Every request moves through an identity layer and authentication gateway, then splits across the AI agent platform and core services before reaching institutions through a single integration gateway.

AI Agents

Heritance isn't a single chatbot. It's a set of specialized agents that collaborate under one orchestration layer, each responsible for one part of the discovery-to-recovery lifecycle.

Discovery agent

Locates potential financial assets.

  • Document understanding & OCR
  • Financial entity extraction
  • Institution detection
  • Missing account inference
Verification agent
  • Identity validation
  • Cross-document verification
  • Beneficiary & nominee consistency
  • Confidence scoring
Recovery agent
  • Missing documentation checks
  • Recovery checklist generation
  • Institution-specific workflows
  • Dependency mapping
Continuity agent
  • Family readiness score
  • Recovery readiness
  • Missing documentation alerts
  • Nominee gaps & proof-of-life reminders
Concierge agent — future

A long-term AI assistant for families: answers questions about family assets, locates documents, explains ownership structures, and guides beneficiaries through recovery workflows.

Trust layer

Security

Security is foundational, not a layer added at the end. Every AI recommendation is explainable, and no autonomous action ever moves money or signs a legal document.

Zero Trust Architecture Encryption by Default Least Privilege Access Human-in-the-Loop AI Complete Audit Trails
Encryption
  • AES-256 at rest
  • TLS 1.3 in transit
Authentication
  • OAuth 2.1
  • Passkeys
  • MFA
  • Device trust
Authorization
  • Owner · Beneficiary · Executor
  • Family member · Advisor
  • Institution role

Data isolation

Every family vault is logically isolated — no cross-family data path exists at any layer of the platform.

AI safety

Every AI recommendation ships with a confidence score, supporting evidence, citations, and full audit history. No autonomous asset transfers or legal actions occur without explicit human authorization.

Platform pillar

Continuity

The Continuity Engine continuously measures whether a family's financial life can survive an unexpected event — before that event happens.

Key capabilities
  • Asset discovery & document completeness
  • Beneficiary mapping & nominee validation
  • Recovery planning & institutional coordination
  • Digital asset access & proof-of-life workflows
  • Executor guidance
Continuity score

A dynamic readiness score calculated from:

  • Asset coverage
  • Documentation quality
  • Beneficiary completeness
  • Credential availability
  • Recovery complexity & verification confidence

Employer & Benefits APIs — future phase

Wealth continuity doesn't stop at the household. A large share of a family's discoverable assets — group insurance, provident fund, ESOPs, gratuity, employer-sponsored pension — sit inside an employer's HR and benefits systems. A future phase extends Heritance's API surface to employers directly, so continuity becomes something HR platforms can offer as a benefit, not something a family has to reconstruct after the fact.

Employer onboarding
  • Register Employer Workspace
  • Bulk Employee Enrollment
  • Beneficiary Onboarding at Hire
  • HRIS Connectors (Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, and similar)
Employee benefits continuity
  • Sync Group Insurance & Pension Records
  • ESOP / Gratuity / Provident Fund Mapping
  • Offboarding Continuity Trigger
  • Employer-Sponsored Readiness Score
Why it matters for reviewers: the employer channel turns Heritance from a consumer app into distribution infrastructure — a single HRIS integration can bring continuity coverage to thousands of employees at once, the same way payroll or benefits platforms scale today.

FAQ

Is Heritance a password manager?

No. Password management is one component of a broader wealth continuity platform focused on discoverability, verification, and recovery.

Does Heritance move money?

No. The platform doesn't custody or transfer funds. It provides infrastructure to locate, verify, and coordinate access to financial assets.

Does AI make legal or financial decisions?

No. AI assists with discovery, verification, and workflow orchestration. All sensitive actions require explicit human approval.

Is the platform blockchain-only?

No. Heritance is asset-agnostic and supports traditional financial assets, digital assets, legal documents, and institutional records. Blockchain integrations are planned where they improve verifiability, provenance, or digital asset continuity.

Will there be developer APIs?

Yes. Public APIs, SDKs, and webhooks are planned so banks, insurers, employers, wealth managers, and ecosystem partners can embed Heritance capabilities directly into their own products.

Can employers offer Heritance as a benefit?

That's the intent of the Phase 4 employer track — HRIS connectors and group benefits APIs let an employer enroll a workforce and sync group insurance, pension, and provident fund records, so continuity coverage extends automatically at hire and at offboarding.
